Ready to Deliver Safety

Our team of AMTA Road Knights stand ready to visit communities throughout the province to deliver a message of how to safely share the road with trucks and to raise awareness of industry career opportunities.

AMTA Road Knights are professional transport drivers with first-class driving records who meet with the community to raise awareness of industry careers and how to safely share the road with a truck.

AMTA forged the trail for the program in the western provinces when it unveiled its inaugural team in 2011. AMTA Road Knights appear at driving schools, business clubs, high schools, social clubs and other public venues. Team members wear a jacket emblazoned with the Road Knight’s crest and may bring a tractor-trailer to some events for tours and road sharing demonstrations.

To request a visit from an AMTA Road Knight, please contact Cliff Litke at cliff.litke@amta.ca

Team members are selected from applicants throughout the province and are chosen because of their collision-free driving record, commitment to safety and enthusiasm for the road transportation industry. Road Knights are located in different parts of the province to broaden their geographic reach.

Candidates who are short listed for the program are required to submit a detailed application outlining why they want to become a team member. They  deliver a well-organized and clearly presented speech and participate in a rigorous interview by a selection panel. Past selection panels have consisted of representatives from Alberta’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, trucking industry trade press, TruckWest, and AMTA officials.

The participation of the team members is made possible thanks to the generous support of AMTA member companies. AMTA oversees the program and locates opportunities for the team members to engage with the community. Each team serves for two years. The next AMTA Road Knights Team will be selected in 2022.
