The AMTA’s Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) Instructor Recertification enables AMTA certified PDIC instructors to renew their AMTA instructor certification.
Learning: One day in Classroom
Frequency of Occurrence: Quarterly or as demand requires
Member: $299+ GST
Non-Member: $599+ GST
This Recertification course is only available to existing, provincially licensed, AMTA PDIC instructors. It is a one-day refresher course taught in either a classroom or held virtually.
Should they be required, distance learning courses would be facilitated in real-time by a qualified AMTA instructor and participants access the course and materials via an online conferencing tool (presently, Microsoft Teams) using a computer or device equipped with sound and video (camera) capabilities
In order to renew their Alberta Transportation instructor’s license, the instructor must have taught 72 hours in the previous 24-month period. Failure to meet this requirement may result in an observation, by a representative of the Driver Education and Enforcement Standards department of Alberta Transportation, of the instructor teaching a portion of the PDIC course.
Pre-requisites for this course are:
- Less than 7 demerit points (provide commercial abstract)
- No driver licence suspension that expired within 2 years
- No Criminal Code driver license cancelation or suspension previous 5 years
- Current AMTA PDIC instructor certificate within the previous 2 years
- Has delivered at least 1 PDIC course per year
Primary: AMTA certified PDIC Instructors who train drivers within their fleet for either demerit point reduction or for LCV drivers who require a PDIC certificate as part of the requirement of the LCV Permit.
