The AMTA, with support from industry, has developed a professional designation which recognizes the career progression of safety and compliance professionals within the commercial transportation industry.

The CTSP designation was designed to recognize individuals capable of developing and managing a carrier’s road safety and compliance programs, either in-part or in-whole.

The CTSC designation was designed to recognize entry-level safety and compliance coordinators that have met the designation’s minimum requirements of experience and knowledge.

CERTIFIED TRANSPORTATION SAFETY PROFESSIONAL              

The Certified Transportation Safety Professional (CTSP) is an individual capable of developing and managing a carrier’s road transportation safety and compliance programs in part or in whole. This individual will often supervise the day to day functions of others in the organization. Also, this individual is often responsible for providing guidance and acting as a subject matter expert in the field of safety and compliance.

The AMTA has approved a number of courses for inclusion in the coursework curriculum. All of the courses identified will develop the candidate’s ability to demonstrate the seven required competencies. Candidates will be required to complete eight mandatory and three elective courses to meet requirements and be eligible for sitting the CTSP Exam.

MANDATORY COURSES

ELECTIVE COURSES (Three required)

**Students will have an option to take either Fundamentals of Auditing or COR Auditor as a mandatory course. If you choose COR auditor as one of the mandatory courses, you will need to select an additional Elective to complete the designation.

 

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • 75 hours to be achieved over a 3-year time period
  • 60 of those hours need to be verifiable

If you do not meet the requirements for the specialist-level CTSP designation, refer to the entry-level CTSC designation.

CERTIFIED TRANSPORTATION SAFETY COORDINATOR

The Certified Transportation Safety Coordinator (CTSC) is an entry-level designation for safety and compliance coordinators that have met the minimum standards of experience and knowledge. This individual is capable of assisting in developing and managing a carrier’s road transportation safety and compliance programs in part or in whole. This individual will often responsible for providing guidance in the field of safety and compliance as it related to the carrier’s daily administrative operations.

Completion of the designation process confers the right to use the Certified Transportation Safety Coordinator title, and to place the CTSC initials after their name.

The AMTA has approved a number of courses for inclusion in the coursework curriculum. All of the courses identified will develop the candidate’s ability to demonstrate the seven required competencies. Candidates will be required to complete six mandatory and two elective courses to meet requirements and be eligible for sitting the CTSC Exam.
